Almost every automaker was present, but it was Kia that stole much of the spotlight, so how did they do it?
With hundreds of vehicles in attendance, three vehicles in particular helped Kia become the darling of the Chicago Auto Show.
Kia Steals Spotlight in Windy City
Kia Optima Hybrid
Giving fans a peek at the future of automotive technology, Kia unveiled the stylish 2014 Kia Optima Hybrid. Updated with restyled front and rear fascias, the 2014 Optima Hybrid will be capable of reaching 40 mpg on the highway and 36 in town, giving an average fuel-economy of 38 mpg.
Orth Hedrick, vice president of Kia product planning, said that the Optima Hybrid is unique to the segment because it delivers fuel-saving efficiency with “world-class design, robust performance and an upscale personality”.
Kia Soul EV
Keeping fuel-efficiency in mind, Kia unveiled the 2015 Kia Soul EV, an electric vehicle that is expected to offer a driving range of 80 to 100 miles. Using state-of-the-art lithium battery technology, the Soul EV will offer excellent power and reliable performance.
This is Kia’s first all-electric car, illustrating the brand’s intent to move forward with alternative energy sources and give drivers advanced technology while maintaining style, performance, and design. Kia Niro Concept
This dramatic and impressive concept car made its U.S. debut in the windy city. Although the vehicle had already been seen in September at a show in Germany, this was the first chance for American journalists and car enthusiasts to take a look at the Kia Niro.
The Niro features a “Nightfall” exterior paint and a menacing stance that gives the vehicle a unique presence and helping it stand out in Chicago. One of the most interesting features is the butterfly doors that open vertically, a feature that could be helpful in crowded city streets.
