The newest Kia commercial, a montage of the hamsters going from frumpy to fit and finishing with a red carpet strut, debuted after Lady Gaga’s performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
“Totally Transformed” also features Kia’s design-guru and company president Peter Schreyer working on the sleeker and sexier 2014 Kia Sportage.

The Kia Hamsters: The Surprising Sensation
The Kia Hamsters debuted in 2009 with the commercial “A New Way to Roll”, which showed stationary hamsters spinning a wheel and going nowhere. Enter the Kia Hamsters, riding in a sleek Kia Soul, and the sensation began.
Kia Hamster commercials go hand-in-hand with popular music. Songs featured in these spots include LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem, and songs from artists like Black Sheep and Goldfish.

2014 Kia Soul: Totally Transformed
Although the Kia Soul is already one of the most popular vehicles available, winning honors and awards like Best Deal Under, $15,000, Coolest Cars Under $18,000, and topping the J.D. Power APEAL Study, the designers and engineers at Kia are not sitting still.
They have added a wide variety of design features, while maintaining the Soul’s recognizable look and feel.
On the inside, the 2014 Kia Soul has heated and cooled seats, an engine start button, and lighting that responds to audio cues and changes color and intensity based in the music track.
“Now in its second generation, the Soul maintains its individualistic edge with a fresh take on its iconic design as well as a ‘Totally Transformed’ driving experience, and the hamsters have followed suit by getting fit and developing a new fashion sense.”
- Michael Sprague, KMA’s VP of Marketing
